Meredith Fenyo

Head Coach

Meredith graduated from Stanford in June of 2024 and is now taking a gap year before starting medical school. During undergrad, Meredith was a four-year competitor, three-year captain, and two-term President of SMT. During her time on SMT, Meredith earned nine(!!!) individual awards as an attorney, revived Stanford’s annual tournament, SUMTI, brought back SMT’s C team for the first time in 14 years, and led SMT to three bids to ORCS for the first time in program history. She’s thrilled to return to her alma mater for one *final* year of mock trial before she puts on her white coat. In her free time, Meredith enjoys watching gymnastics and the WNBA, binging police procedurals, and spending time with her three poorly-trained rescue dogs.

Eli Tannenwald

Assistant Coach

Eli is a current 3L at Stanford Law School, where he’s a member editor for the Stanford Law Review and moot court competitor. Prior to law school, he graduated from UC Santa Barbara, where he was a four year competitor for the UCSB Mock Trial Team, earning several awards as both an attorney and witness. Eli was the president and A-Team captain of UCSB MT, leading the program to its highest ranking in its history and first back-to-back nationals appearances. In his free time, he enjoys listening to podcasts, playing pick-up basketball, and putting far too much effort into fantasy football—though he did win the 1L league.

Darien Carter

Assistant Coach

Darien is a self-described “Mock Trial aficionado” with a passion for a subtle cravat. Having never attended Stanford or become a lawyer, he is pleased that the folks at Stanford have liked him enough to continue to invite him to hang out with them in Palo Alto when he feels like getting out of San Francisco. Darien brings over a decade of mock trial experience to the table, having competed at high levels of competition at the high school level in Pennsylvania and in college at Howard University, where he served as a team captain all four years and President of the program his senior year. He was the coach of Stanford B from 2017 to 2020. He describes the crowning achievement of his time as part of SMT as coaching Josie to her first award at Geneva ORCS in her junior year. In his spare time, you can catch him running for the 11:04pm Caltrain

Michael Wilson

Assistant Coach

Michael is a 2nd Grade Teacher in East Palo Alto intent on becoming a lawyer himself. Before teaching, Michigan graduated from the University of Michigan, where he competed for four years. During his time in the AMTA circuit, Michael amassed 15 individual awards, including two All-Americans, led Michigan back to nationals for the first time in five years, and took 3rd place at Trial by Combat his senior year. A newcomer to the Bay area, Michael is extremely excited to help out with SMT in whatever way possible. When he isn’t cooking up the best theories, Michael enjoys climbing, hiking, and taking care of his four animals at home.
